Introducing Martha Garrett

I have Mars in Virgo at the Midheaven so there is a side of my personality I call "Martha Garrett".

Martha wants us all to follow the rules, not waste and do our duty.

Martha goes everywhere with me and it was just this morning on our regularly scheduled one hour walk, that she used the cell to report a missing Albertson's grocery basket at the corner of Orcutt and 50th here in Allied Gardens and also, less than a half block away (!!) a badly leaking fire hydrant.

Go, Martha!!

The Lesson: I give this somewhat obnoxious part of my personality a place to express itself appropriately so it stays out of the rest of my life.

I also use it to check and double check the details of astrology readings so you know you're getting the best.

Do you have a planet you need to put a fence around?

What Can I Say?

Malaguena Salerosa

My beautiful Canadian friend and I enjoyed a day in Old Town eating Mexican food and strolling afterwards with Cold Stone ice cream.

Two mariachis serenaded us at our table with Malaguena Salerosa which always makes me cry.

Que bonitos ojos tienes
Debajo de esas dos cejas
Debajo de esas dos cejas
Que bonitos ojos tienes.
Ellos me quieren mirar
Pero si tu no los dejas
Pero si tu no los dejas
Ni siquiera parpadear.
Malaguena salerosa
Besar tus labios quisiera
Besar tus labios quisiera.
Malaguena salerosa
Y decirte nina hermosa.
Que eres lin........da y hechicera,
Que eres linda y hechicera
Como el candor de una rosa.
Si por pobre me desprecias
Yo te concedo razon
Yo te concedo razon
Si por pobre me desprecias.
Yo no te ofrezco riquezas
Te ofrezco mi corazon
Te ofrezco mi corazon
A cambio de mi pobreza.
Malaguena salerosa
Besar tus labios quisiera
Besar tus labios quisiera.

Y decirte nina hermosa.

Hello Pluto in Capricorn, Bye Bye Pluto in Sagittarius

Housing starts at a new 17-year low. Hmmm. Are we adjusting for the whole time (16 years) Pluto was in Sagittarius, one big inflated hot air balloon?

The NY Times said today that those around the world are paying less and less attention to the decisions of the United States Supreme Court. It seems Pluto was undermining the 9th house (Sagittarian related) institutiion this whole transit, too. Of course we know what it did to the press. Who reads print anymore?

Pluto Hits Russia

Russia and China are the countries to watch during the next Pluto cycle but everyone is affected one way or another.

How will Pluto affect you? Where does it hit in your chart as it changes signs into Capricorn this November andwhat does thatmean? There's still time to prepare.

Finally, Little Square Food!!

Since I have Mars in Virgo square whacked out Uranus, I can be really into some weird little things like I always thought it would be so much more effiicient instead of ribs, burgers, steak, lasagne, all those choices, if we just put the proper vitamins and nutients into little squares and ate them with our fingers.
I am, I confess, a health nut, as most of you know.

Time to eat? Hungry? Reach for a little square food. It takes all the Cancerian emotion and Leonine fun out of eating and reduces it to simple Virgoan biochemistry. And it's not TOFU!!!!!!!!!

Well, True North heard my prayer. Here pictured is the "100% natural Almond Cluster".

It is square and really delicious.
It claims to be a good source of protein and fiber and comes in several varieties at the grocery.

Walking around Allied Gardens

This is one of the very, very tall palm trees you see in San Diego. I snapped this on my walk today. The birds just LOVE them The palm fronds are always filled with chirpy little winged neighbors!

Astrology and Retirement

As Rob Hand so wisely puts it:

"A common problem for people approaching retirement is that they have no idea what to do with their coming leisure time. All they know is their work, and when that ends, their life effectively ends. This is the crisis presented by this influence. You must realize that the richness of your life does not come only from your achievements in the outer world of business and society, but also from what you know and understand about life. "

An astrology reading can help you prepare for retirement by putting the whole past of your life in perspective and getting to know yourself again!

It can help you understand why your life turned out the way it did and how to move on to the most creative phase of your ife.

Pluto Enters Capricorn

When Pluto entered Capricorn in 1270 Marco Polo went to China, Thomas Aquinas wrote "Summa Theologica", and Moses de Leon wrote the Zohar [two of the greatest religious works in history].

This is the typical pattern, the changes brought about by Pluto in Sagittarius leads to some striking religious or political event as soon as Pluto enters Capricorn.

Obviously, the Zohar and "Summa Theologica" were in preparation while Pluto was in Sagittarius but were published when Pluto first entered Capricorn. From 1268 to 1271 there was a vacancy in the Papacy (another turbulence towards the end of Pluto in Sagittarius righted by Pluto entering Capricorn).

The Mystery of Crowds

This is the kind of thing you see revealed behind the scenes when you analyze all the charts of the people at work or in your class or family.

I just reviewed the last 250 charts I did for astrology readings. I was looking to see where Pluto was entering Capricorn in their chart. I discovered that in all but THREE charts they had no planets in Capricorn whatsoever. That means that out of 250 people who consulted me recently, 247 of them had no Capricorn planets. What are the statstical odds of that? And more important for a metaphysician, what might it "mean"?

Why am I attracting people like that? Are they honing in on my Mighty Capricorn South Node, wanting that particular kind of balance for what is missing in their charts or is it just that people with Capricorn planets and energy avoid the inventive arts because it is more worldly knowledge they are in need of to further their careers and success? Then the no-Capricorn folks might be seeking my wordly knowledge.
At any rate I find it quite intriguing.

PM Stephen Harper an Introvert?

A Canadian reader has thought for a long time that Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is an introvert. Here's what she wrote me.

For a long time, I've suspected that the Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, is an introvert. I can tell by his appearance and by how hard he tries to be extroverted. There was one picture of him with a boy to show the Canadians that he is a family man. But that picture didn't work out well because of his introverted nature. Also, I notice that the PM is a man of few words so in some ways, it feels like the government is being secretive yet stable.

But I was not sure about that until I read this newspaper article:

http://www.thestar.com/FederalElection/article/496894

Now I know for sure he is an introvert.

Raging Universe Knocks Out a Great Read on the Election Dynamics

“Astrology really is a wonder. Now that Pluto is direct and headed for [opposition to] Obama’s Venus at 1 Cancer, the second phase of this transformational transit is about to begin. Enter the monster from the cold; white as the northern snow, a sinner clothed as a saint come to lure the poor traveler into forbidden territory. He does have Pluto in the 7th, the natural Venus house…”

Scary Plutonic Things for North Korea's Second Saturn Return

According to the NY Times today, North Korea's leader Kim Jong-il may have suffered a stroke in mid August. He has not been seen in public since August 11 and recently missed a 60th anniversary celebration for the foundiing of his country. He is reported under a doctor's care.

North Korea is observing its second Saturn Return.

Considering how isolated and radioactive North Korea is, the idea of a change of power is pretty Plutonic bcause no one has any idea what would or could happen after "Dear Leader's" death or incapacitation.

As Pluto enters Capricorn, keep an eye on Russia and China as well.

How musical are we though? My father grew up very poor, working class, Irish and they had no toys but they did have an old piano. He and all his siblings learned to play by ear. No one seems to do that now. And then I wonder about the death of whistling … you don’t hear it in the street any more.

Pluto Goes DIrect

Government takeover of FANNNIE MAE and FREDDIE MAC yesterday cetainly qualifies as a Plutonic event, hopefully both an enema and a tonic for the ailing economy. There may be more ahead as Pluto gets serious about business in Capricorn.

When Leo and Virgo Mated They Produced the Egyptian Sphinx

The Egyptian Sphinx

I have read voraciously in this field for over 25 years and have studied all sorts of things. I have a photographic memory and a high speed of reading considering that I understand it all, too. I mean I don’t skip around and hit the high points. I have no idea some of the things I’ve read.

I also learned from the “ground up”. I now feel there was a reason I sat at fairs and in bookstores for years when I was building my practice and read for hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of real people, many of whom have stayed with me for over 20 years now! I was really present at those readings, listening with my whole self. As I listened, watched their lives develop, heard their thoughts and feelings, saw how these things reflected later in their choices, in the things they manifested, “outworked” in their lives, also how their energies worked with their charts, I made all sorts of discoveries. Also they were very honest with me and very open. You possibly can’t imagine the things I know about real people. It certainly isn’t things they tell the Gallup poll.

In this field as in any field where human lives are concerned, there is NOTHING like experience!

At one time, I stumbled across a font of information that then disappeared. It was like drinking from a mountain stream and then going back to find it has disappeared. It is lovely to reminisce about this for this is where I found the information about the Egyptian Sphinx.

There were a group of writers around the turn of the century who were just sublime. The person who wrote "The Life and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East", for example, Baird Spaulding, is like that. Also the person who wrote “Shangri-La”. They have a cerebral Neptunian vibration to me although at the time this book was written Neptune and Pluto were in Gemini (1894). Perhaps it felt that way to me, that they were speaking directly to me, because those planets are on my Uranus in the 7th house.

I am also connected with a group of disincarnate guides, very wise people, a group where I came from, that contact me every now and then. Much of my “information” comes from this source (inside myself from past lives) as well as from the healing angel Raphael. I have lived many lives, been many things, many times a healer.

There is some logical reason to do with the zodiac for the Sphinx image but I don’t remember. I just got instantly that it was true.

There is a LOGIC when those two energies are combined that is both regal and grounded. It is an ordering logic, as the esoterics would say, a foundational energy like the imaginary blue prints of the anonymous people who built the cathedrals in the Middle Ages.

The Greek Sphinx was an utterly nasty character, but the Egyptian Sphinx is different. I suppose, too, that the ES must compensate for the plodding nature of Egyptian society, which went on and on and on without changes for so long. There is a higher intelligence released and at work as the Nile continues it endless cycle of reliable flooding.

Not my favorite culture. It’s like intelligence has to escape and express somewhere, and it went into the Sphinxes. That is how I sometimes feel out in the world. Am I the only one with myeyes open? Don’t you feel that way? Makes me think of Walt Whitman.

The Greater Mystery. The eye in the pyramid on the dollar bills (and in Masonry) is the higher octave of this sphinx.

The Greek Sphinx is a nasty character, a version of the negative female such as Medusa or a harpy. She belongs with negative Scorpio/Gemini energy.

What Is It About Tom Hanks?

After recently watching "Saving Private Ryan" again on television, and discussing Tom Hanks' acting ability with H., we both wondered, what is it about him that makes him so incredibly popular.

As of September 24, 2006, the star of "The Philadelphia Story" and "Forrest Gump" was the highest-grossing lead actor of all time, with a combined gross of over USD$3.3 billion and a worldwide gross of nearly $6 billion. [astrotheme.com]

H. said after 9.11 when Tom Hanks told us everything would be ok, we believed it and felt better.

What people love in their actors is their ability to convey emotion. Hanks has a very, very powerful South Node in Scorpio squaring Pluto buried deep in the 12th house in Leo, the sign Americans love most in their celebs.

Combining that with Cancer Sun, Tom Hanks can dredge up every last drop of legitimate emotion and practically mandate a catharsis in the viewer.

This combination also produces a symbolic blend that both suggests and denies the dark father, Darth Vader. He is the dark father turned light or the Godfather all-good. This is the aspect that so reassured H. after 9.11.

Virgo Rising and Venus in Gemini at the Midheaven give Hanks his sex appeal. Tom Cruise is another very famous actor with Cancer Sun and Virgo Rising. Kevin Costner has Virgo Rising with the opposite sign, Capricorn, Sun. Keanu Reeves, Kurt Cobain and Paul McCartney all have Gemini Midheaven as well.

Tom Hanks' Sun is in Cancer. Cancer is the sign found most often in hysterically popular celebrities such as Bing Crosby and Judy Garland. According to wikipedia, from 1934 to 1954 Bing Crosby held a nearly unrivaled command of record sales, radio ratings, and motion picture grosses. He is cited among the most popular musical acts in history and is currently the most electronically recorded human voice in history. In 1999, the American Film Institute placed Judy Garland among the ten greatest female stars in the history of American cinema.

Pluto Leaves Sagittarius

A truly outstanding treatment of Pluto's egress from Sagittarius from a universal perspective: http://raginguniverse.blogspot.com/2008/08/idolatry.html

All I can say is, I wish I had written this.

The Hood

This is a "real" neighborhod restaurant, one of a kind and unique in San Diego. Everyone seems to have heard of it.

The theme is "brothers" so it has photos inside of the Blues Brothers, Jack and Bobbie Kennedy, etc ....

Since it's been around so long many of the clientele are 70, 80.

The food is pretty mediocre but I sometimes grab breakfast there.

The Hood

Since it is always so sunny (hot and sweaty) in San Diego, I welcome the few patches of shade such as this on my daily walk. This is also on the downhill home stretch.

Pluto enters Capricorn

The best and most conscious use of Pluto now and until November is to erase your past and get your fears in perspective especially your fear of change which, if you think about it is always only your fear of death in disguise.

Yes, between now and November something’s going to die but it should be parts of your ego that are no longer necessary as defenses and situations you have completely outgrown.

It might be a good time to read The Pluto Club: http://www.bemyastrologer.com/the_pluto_club.html

Excerpt:
“God speaks only to the oldest souls, the ones most experienced in living and suffering. ‘You shall belong to no-one and to nothing, to no party, to no majority, to no minority, to no society except in that it serves me at my altar. You shall not belong to your parents, nor to your wife and children, nor to your brothers and sisters, nor to them who speak your language, nor to those who speak any other — and least of all to thine own self. You shall belong only to me in this world.”~Franz Werfel

Sarah Palin's Birth Chart Rectified

Best guess going around the internet gives Sarah Palin Leo Rising.

If this does turn out to be the true chart, this lady is the Queen of Ethics. Look at that 9th house.

She could, however, have some "power issues" as Neptune in Scorpio, which squares important personal planets and Saturn, sits at the bottom of the chart. As I've said before, this portends a great many secrets, even from herself. She may be scheduled for some major reality checks in the years ahead. The combination of Saturn and Neptune is fraught with delusions and self deception.

The least aspected planet Uranus (LAP) can be found in the first house. As Saturn hits it the lady leaps onto the national scene with all the excitement and aliveness we'd expect from Uranus.

Two years ago when Saturn crosssed her Ascendant she became govenor of Alaska. This might be a very good guess at the birth time. This type of astrology is called rectification and is a specialty.

Astrology Q&A

Question from astrology student: is it possible to cast a chart to see a probability for who will win the presidential election in November?

Answer: I don’t think so except with Pluto going into Cap I think it’s bound to be a Republican. You could look at the chart of each candidate and see if they had transits that would indicate prominence and power. I myself am not interested enough to do that yet. I can wait 60 days.

Question: On this one astrologer's website, he advertised that you could request to find out your time and manner of death (by special request only). Is that possible?

Aswer: There are some systems that purport to do that and there is the Aarabic Part of Death. I always thought it would be valuable thing to know but something told me not to pursue it. People are highly suggestible.
I think most astrologers have ethical concerns about things like this.

SHOW US YOUR KEYRING

I have not taken notice of my keyrings/keys before. Here goes...

My main bunch of keys jingle and jangle as they move from hand to pocket to another pocket, from one coat to another, from my around my neck by my old, trusted most used Air Ambulance’ 'saving time saves lives' keyring ribbon, to having their last jangle when placed over night at home in the toffee quality street tin of years old.

My main bunch of keys...

I use my Air Ambulance key chain (the ribbon looking keyring you can see) to hang my keys around my neck

Because 1, when paying for my food shopping I like to have hands free to pack my food in my trolley bag. I do not want to place my bunch of keys on the checkout counter where they become covered with carrier bags and I can’t find them, or I forget them and not realise till I am at the car ready to get into the car to go home. As has happened in the past. and created, PANIC. Also by having my keys hanging around my neck, it is easier to lean forward to get my Tescos club card key ring (the blue one) swiped to gain my air miles, rather than having to dig deep in my pockets to find it.

Because 2, When paying a visit to a disabled public convenience (toilet), having gained entry with the Large four inch long jailers looking key on my key ring, I need to hang my bunch of keys around my neck to make sure I do not lock the keys in the building when I leave. Once I am outa the public convenience, there is no getting back in unless I have the Key in hand to open the door. If I leave my keys inside, well .... I am stuck out in the open for many hours, perhaps all night if in a rural area. I would not be able to get into the car to drive home and if I managed to get home, would not be able to get inside the house because my house keys are on the same bunch of keys.

Because 3, I do not want to loose my keys when and have no pockets or bag, like when walking the dog,

I hold my trusted keyring ribbon to dangle and shake my keys. The noise the keys make gets the neighbours dog to pay attention and sit, rather than jump up and all over me. The noise also moves the sheep out of my path and down the road to nibble someone else’s garden hedge.

Another key ring on my key bunch is my plastic library card keyring. Having this is great as I can pop into the library at any time and take out a book. Before having the library keyring I would forget my library card and have to go back home for it.

The keys on my keyrings are ...

My back door key, which, I have just discovered is very slim line and has ERA on it. Era reminds me of me being old enough to have the key of the door. My age old belongings inside the property that the key locks up and allows entrance to. The age of the house, now 35 to 40 years old but as draughty as a 2000 + year old castle. Brrrr! My car key. To me this is 'travel' and 'dog kennel. Without my car key, I am grounded, living rural and unable to walk far. My car key is a lifeline, an entrance to a second home complete with, warmth, movement, a sleep area, dog duvets, survival blanket, torch, spade etc... Should I be stuck down a country lane in winter. Dog hairs, dog biscuits, water and bowl. Dog’s chews, toys, and a bottle of water, bar of chocolate and nuts in the cubbyhole for me.

My car steering lock key - protects my second home. My comforts of going to the beach and driving in the mountains. ahh peace.. :)

Gate padlock key - Words to this key are, hassle, frustration, illness, Kids in the village, dugs, underage drinking, footballs, School playground and sex. The life of the young today and Sheep. My gate padlock key holds in all that is outdoors and of my creation in layout and design and planting for growth. My gate padlock key, the barrier to who I let into my garden and whom leaves the garden gate open if they can to let the mountain sheep wander in and destroy anything and everything that is vegetable and plant.

I also have a Guinness penknife key ring. The small knife that helps me open bags of nuts I buy for a snack, and a bottle opener that I never use. Oh! it is an offence to carry a penknife these days in the U.K. So now, I have a dangerous keyring on my key bunch.

I have a hook as a keyring. I got it from the camping shop. Maybe one day I will find a use for it.

There are six keys, eight rings that link my keys and keyrings together, five objects I call keyrings.

If I do numerology on this. 6 + 8+ 5= 19 1+9=10 If I take the 10 as 1.

1 represents - Extraordinary leadership skills, being ambitious, strong willed, courageous, unconventional, inventive, creative, original, pioneering, having a unique approach to problems, being independent, individualistic, and having a great potential for success.

Oh! thats me. what star sign am I?

The main colours of the keyrings on my main bunch of keys are red, blue, green, Red for my passion. ;) Blue and green for the love of nature I have around me.

Surprising what a bunch of keys can tell about, someone, anyone, and me :)

I have keys on other keyrings.

This keyring once belonged to an good friend who is 15- 20 years past over.

The keyring is from my days of working in a souvenir shop in the west end of London. (I may have served one of you if you took a London trip and took home souvenirs)

Another keyring from my past. I love this one because it is big and bulky and not easy to lose. I can also hang it up if I want to.

In a tin I lay all my keys to rest in over night.

I have odd keys and spare keys that have never know the experience of being attached to a keyring. :( but I am sure they hear many a tale from the ones that have.

My Keyrings, reasons and uses for, are practical. I guess I am a practical person.
