The much lately beleaguered SEC is being feted for its 75th Anniversary by the SEC Historical Society this June 25, 2009. [They are conpletely separate entities.]
The SEC was founded in 1934 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt who appointed Joe Kennedy its first Chair. He wanted a fox to guard the henhouse.
The dinner will be held at 7 pm at the National Building Museum, in Washington, D.C. , shown left.
I'll be attending with a number of reltatives to honor the memory of my father, Ray Garrett, Jr., who was Chairman of the SEC from August 6, 1973 to October 28, 1975. He was the 19th Chairman.
