FAmilies Play Musical Chairs as Pluto Moves Ahead in Capricorn

Now that Pluto has entered Capricorn families are being restructured, the way they often do after the death of an important family member.

New enmities and new alliances are forming along more honest lines of inteerest. Long held secrets are clearing the air ... always healing but not always in the ways expected.

What's going on in your family? Have you noticed? When the music stops, will everyone have a chair?

I Love America, Too

photos fair use from wiki

Ruby Bridges desegregating Atlanta schools.
The fllowing headlines were quoted from a Libertarian blog, birdman.org

"... joy in Mr. Obama’s victory is shared by whites all around the world.

“We have great hopes that we are standing at the dawn of a new era,” wrote the Norwegian daily Aftenposten.

“One Giant Step for Mankind” read the front page of England’s Sun newspaper.

A headline on the London Telegraph website declared: “Barack Obama Victory Allows Britain to Love US Again.”

The Times modestly headlined its election story, “The New World.”

Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada spoke of Mr. Obama’s “tremendous, historic” victory, and the Toronto Sun called it “an historic milestone like no other.”
Le Monde in Paris noted that “from Left to Right, [French] politicians have been competing for superlatives with which to praise the election of Barack Obama.”

Milan’s Corriere della Sera wrote that Mr. Obama was “the man who can save America from utter breakdown.”

[end of quote]

Without the hysterical edge, I love America, too, for electing our first African-American president. This is who I am. I went to an elite suburban highschool, New Trier in Winnetka, back in the 60's. We had one, yes, ONE black student. Shy introvert that I was, I made a point of sitting with her because, believe it or not, no one else would. I took flak for it, too, from my own mother.

I am proud as proud to be an American because electing an A-A president means we have always meant what we said, do the right things, no matter who you are, and the door is open.
Many misplace the glory onto Obama as a Messiah. Maybe he'll do great things. Who knows? But this is for sure. WE did the great thing by electing him. That's what I really think this is all about.
I'm open minded about what he can actually achieve.
And you know what? Everyone mentions Martin Luther King, Jr. and Abe Liincoln but I think of LYNDON JOHNSON for whom it was not an easy thing to do.

My favorite professor parses Obama's speech as to rhetorical style. This is a fascinating article for the intellectuals on my list.

Do You Hate Small Talk? (NOT AS MUCH AS I DO!!!)

FROM A READER AT http://www.theintrovertzcoach.com/, the website that advocates for introversion as a legitimate personality type.

"It so nice to hear that there is nothing wrong with me and that I'm not a mean person just because I don't want to small talk and be everyone's best friend.

"I think having found your introvert site years ago is a big reason I'm on an even keel and not having a health or metal break down even though I'm married to a flaming extrovert! (With social diarrhea.) Who wants me to be just like him, "social". HA.

"Thank you again!"

~Anon

Did You Notice, Too?

From today's NY Times editorial page:

There was a lot to reflect on in President Obama’s inaugural speech today, but there were two small points that are worth noting, two things that Mr. Obama mentioned that American politicians, especially presidents, never mention: Vietnam and atheism.

This man is really inclusive. He's entering office under this beautiful Jupiter in Aquarius wavelength that has us all feeling like freed slaves.

Are You a Member of th Pluto Club?

What Nancy's readers have said about THE PLUTO CLUB.

1.21.08How I feel Pluto affects my life: I have always had a sense of the underbelly of situations, interactions between people, what is really going on beneath the surface. This has often led me to withdraw myself. When people meet me, they find me too intense, which often results in my being peripheral to social situations (though this is not only enforced by others, but by myself). I can become obsessive about things. If I am researching something, I become totally consumed by it (I am a PhD student). These are just a few examples.

7.27.2007 Thank you. I'm one of the "babies". Catharsis is like, well, breathing for me. I think I've packed at least 9 lives into this one so far. Thank you for being sensitive to the difference. ~k.Dee, email

7.13.2005 An Aries reader says: Scorpios can fascinate me to no end. The few people who have had the power to make me throw my pride out the window have been Scorpios- as far as my experience, they're the only ones who can make people shudder to their very bones.
Nancy says in response: If you're a Pluto type, don't tell me you don't know what he means. Don't give me that innocent Goethe Scorpio Rising look :-) If you think this is the little spring lamb, read Faust and experience Walpurgis Nacht which makes the night of Bald Mountain look like a trip to a theme park. I absolutely love this Plutonic man and his ability to shake me to my roots.
Johann von Goethe

4.14.2007 I believe I qualify as a member of this club as I have Pluto conjunct my Mars AND my Sun, in my 5th house :) And yes, my life is all about transformation. I believe the Abraham Hicks - Law of Attraction - Secret connection will strike a deep chord with all Plutonians as it finally reveals what it's been all about all along - and how the kinds of transformation we're after can begin to occur. I would also highly recommend Kundalini and Ashtanga (Power) Yoga as well as Reiki to any member of the "club". Their soothing, healing effects will be warmly welcomed by anyone struggling with issues of Self and transformation of Self. Oh, and re: "I find it difficult to relate on an intimate level to someone who is not Plutonic" this one made me chuckle. I've had 5 "important" relationships in my life so far and one was a Scorpio moon, two were Scorpio suns, and two were Moon/Pluto conjunctions! Apparently nothing "less" would do!

4.22.2007
Ms. Fenn,I just came from reading your assessment of Pluto conjunct North Node. It was fate – I believe, I was meant to read it, I have north node in libra (end of second house) conjunct Pluto (3) – 5.17 degrees. I also have moon in aries (beginning of 9th house) conjunct North Node in aries (end of 8th house) – 3.47 degrees. I found a lot of what you said to be true in my case.
I do like to paint myself into a corner and come out fighting or at least, prepared to. It’s something like realizing a part of myself and thinking I can speak (write) about many things but hardly ever get anyone to say, I understand how you feel or maybe you should try “this” / the rare moments I actually “open” up. It’s like I have to take it all and keep so much to myself, without feedback – that I have to settle for counting on myself at all times, and feeling “apart” from others. Nothing that happens to me is anything less than abnormal.
Surrending to the transformation – Aries to Libra. I’m very much comfortable with being a loner. Being the oldest, my 3rd house (sibling as well, right?) was tapped into after my free-reigning days, 9th house (higher learning, traveling?) days away from them. My mom died and I took custody of my siblings (1999) and I got to make some sort of amends with my mom since we were estranged since I was 7 or 8. It was a hard experience. I met different people – on the one hand, I met many people in my 9th house days but I met many people on the opposite side of the spectrum when I was in the 3rd house days (btw, that is where I am now).
This was very true – my south node does attribute to my feeling that I can live forever (at least a part of me or at least, that would be ideal) or that I won’t die at all – or, at least, I’m not afraid to die. In my Aries dominated days there was a crowd (more in the environments where I was studying), my Libra days are crowded (family, spiritual and biological).
I just wanted to thank you for such a wonderful read. I could relate to it all so well.
Thank you and I hope 2007 is treating you and yours well.

7.29.2007
Dear Nancy,
I had to write, this article The Pluto Club, literally gave me a little piece of peace during NOW my Pluto conjunct Sun in the 6th and conjunct my north node in the 12th, along with Jupiter conjunct north node coming.

With the full moon this weeked which seems to have exerbated even more horrific circumstances that are presently happening, no food in my house but crumbs, my son in a mental rehab, my car, my finances and last but least my Multiple Sclerosis. My medical astrolger swares I will be cured by 2009, also having natal Uranus conjunct Jupiter. I pray for this to be the finger of God. Saying I gave to him my all. This is how I feel now. I have only God left.

Thank you for that article I found today. It has helped me to believe I will be okay.
My [xxx] has been my Pluto and is ill, and will leave a large sum of money to me when passing. Which I pray will save the day and allow me to carry on with real substance to help the little part of the world I live in. ..

Cuties

Maybe you've seen them in the fresh fruits and vegetables section.

"Cuties" are smaller than a tangerine and much better tasting. They're easy to peel, too. And seedless.

Give cuties a try!!

There are 40 calories in a Cuties California Clementine Orange.

This video is about Cuties.

From the "Uncaring Unsympathetic INTJ" (a Reader)

I am watching an unaired season 2 ep of '.......Fifth Grader' and the 'brutha' is so EXTRO it is almost funny. He has been 'carrying on' after every question.

He is now 'bouncing around' on the set after using both his peek and save on one question(he now has 50K dollars).

As a comparison, when Gene Simmons(who also was a teacher) was on the clelbrity ep, he was contained and, except for some controlled walking over to the class to select helpers, he stayed behind the student desk:)

Mr. Simmons has noticeable soltary/introvert traits:)

Guess who I would want with me:)

Use Your EQ When You're the Mother-in-Law

b Susan Dunn

Kelly and I have a great relationship, I'm grateful to say, but I'm still the mother-in-law. If you are one, or have one, you'll probably agree it's a relationship that requires finesse. "Finesse" is another word for "emotional intelligence."

All those mother-in-law jokes are out there for a reason. I'd say it's hardest to be the mother of the son, but you might disagree! Anyway, Kelly is married to my only son, and the mother of my only grandchildren. There are times when I feel very vulnerable in that situation, having to ask permission and all.

My granddaughter's now old enough to come for visits. When I call to invite her, it's been hard to come up with just the right way to do it. After all, Meg is "hers" and not "mine."

Recently I read an article about something called "anodyne therapy." You know how when they're getting ready to stick a needle in your thumb they say, "This is going to sting a little bit"? Well, in anodyne therapy, they say, "Notice how quickly your thumb becomes numb."

"Anodyne" means "serving to assuage pain, or not likely to offend or arouse tensions."

When I received an email from my daughter-in-law talking about all the "projects" she had going on, I figured out a better way to ask her. Kelly's always got something going on - painting, wallpapering, gardening - and of course they're harder to do with the little ones underfoot.

Lately I call and say, "Want to have some time to do that wallpapering? How about if I take Meg for a couple of days?"

This takes the focus off what's being given up, and places it on something Kelly really wants - more time to do her projects.

Anodyne - not likely to offend or arouse tensions.

That's EQ!

Susan Dunn is the EQ Coach and can qualify you to be one, too. Contact Susan at sdunn@susandunn.cc

Awesome Leonard Cohen Hallelujah and Birth Chart

... or ... "The Eroticism of Betrayal"

"Hallelujah"

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The battle king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Baby I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Here is Leonard Cohen's astrology birth chart, full of subtlety, mystery, divine and universal love, pain and ecstasy. certainly he hears the Music of the Spheres. This is the soulful chart of a poet whose ideals make real life almost unbearable. Look closely for the Leo. There's a lot of it.

"Hallelujah” has too much wit and deviant sex in it to be sung by anyone the dumb side of 45, least of all the belt-it-out-while-holding-back-the-tears sort of diva the sight of whom is a profound religious experience to the judges of The X Factor."

High School Memories

My new jeans are back from Miss Lee. Hurray!

My Favorite Jeans

I lost 10 lbs. recently, rendering my FAVORITE JEANS obsolete. I tracked down where I bought them [online at j. crew] and ordered the next smallest size.

Even though they are P for Petite, they need at least an inch and a half taken up. So I had to take them to Miss Lee, the abusive seamstress at my neighborhood cleaners.

Therefore, I've been without jeans for about 10 days and resorted to wearing things like this grey get-up. It feels funny to "dress up" to sit at a computer alll day and it feels funny to not have my uniform jeans.

Today when I picked up my new jeans, Miss Lee scolded me for leaving something else there since December. It turned out is was a pair of my daughter's jans.

The grey pants are sweater material cashmere.

Utterly Amazing - What a Difference a Century Makes

The year was 1908 , 100 years ago. (ok, 99 for those obsessed with minuscule details}

What a difference a century makes! Here are some statistics for the Year 1908 :
************ ********* ********* ******

The average life expectancy was 47 years.

Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!

The average wage in 1908 was 22 cents per hour.

The average worker made between $200 and $400 per year .

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year,

A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME .

Ninety percent of all doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION! Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard. '

Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.

Five leading causes of death were:
1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars.

The population of Las Vegas , Nevada, was only 30!!!

Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and ice tea hadn't been invented yet.

There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.

Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write.

Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.

Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores. The pharmacists said, 'Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health.'

Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help. (Let's bring that back!)

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A. !

Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years.... can see it already

Obama - Is He or Isn't He .... African American?

[Barack Hussein Obama's birth chart]
One of my clients wrote this and I think it needs to be said.

THIS GUY IS NOT AFRICAN-AMERICAN! Can we say that please? Can we all accept that please?

He's the son of an African immigrant -- not even an immigrant, a foreign student, DIP not EIEP. A foreign student from EAST Africa, not coastal WEST Africa where 99.9999% of the Western Hemisphere's Blacks originated.

He wasn't brought into the world carrying the emotional and cultural and social and psychic inheritance of trauma and bondage and poverty and violence and intimidation and exclusion that African-Americans carry. (Maybe Michelle does, yes...but sorry, SHE'S not the President and either are the two little cuties or the adorable dog I'm sure they'll get).

He was born under conditions of white poverty and deprivation, he has those experiences, of native white poverty and limitation and kicked ass and did a lot and he's impressive. But we didn't redeem ourselves; we didn't elect someone who has lived the trauma of American history and is now going to set things straight.

Talk to me about Ellis Island if you must, or talk to me about "The Grapes of Wrath." But not Lincoln and abolition and Selma and "I have a dream." That's not really the context. We didn't make up for anything. We're so eager to redeem ourselves, we're inventing things.

I'm happy. He's great. And not just because anything is better than.... He's amazing in his own right. Yes, he's hot too. Great pic at the beach. But can we get a grip???

T. E. Lawrence: Seven Pillars of Wisdom

Project Gutenberg wants to put all copyright-ended books online so anyone can read for free, like the hardcopy lbraries of yore.

This is one of the best books you'll ever read, enchanting, monumental and unforgettable, T. E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia)'s SEVEN PILLARS OF WISDOM [click to download for free]. It explains how the problems of the Middle East were created.
Lawrence had Saturn in Leo. Read how he handled his Saturn Return:

From a Concerned Cap Reader

Question in regard to Niko's article ..........Who in his/her right mind would not be interested in the economy?

Statement: By a lowly subject, I don't know if the planets are rolling in a direction that would enable Obama to make some inroads into the workings of his party, but if he were, my suggestion would be to get Barney Frank to step down from his long time position as the head of the Senate Financial committee. That's just for starters! The party needs to take a good look at the idea that letting people that aren't making enough money to repay a loan, have that loan. Now that is the kind of regulation I think Niko is talking about when he said: "We just have to come down to earth and do a few years basic housekeeping.”

It's so simple, but oh so hard for them to understand that we all can't have every thing we see. If a person wants something then he/she needs to count the change in his pocket first and when the bank is willing to give out a loan they need to do the common sense thing if they wish to stay in business........do a credit check which includes counting the earning capacity of, the bread winner.

I grant you , this is coming from a Capricorn, but that isn't Astrology I think it's strategy, sort of sounds close, but close doesn't count now, does it? Why is it that we all wish we could sit in the cat bird seat for just a day?

"Run, Juice, Run" -- Using Astrology and Psychology to Understand Fate

An outstanding state-of-the art piece of reearch, insight and writing that illustrates how powerfully astrology and psychology can interface.

About OJ Simpson http://www.aaperry.com/index.asp?pgid=74

The article ends with this caveat: "Tragedy results from a failure to endure legitimate suffering."

One point I would add that cocaine seems to contribute so obviously and is not mentiioned. It belongs to Neptune.

In Memoriam

The much lately beleaguered SEC is being feted for its 75th Anniversary by the SEC Historical Society this June 25, 2009. [They are conpletely separate entities.]

The SEC was founded in 1934 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt who appointed Joe Kennedy its first Chair. He wanted a fox to guard the henhouse.
The dinner will be held at 7 pm at the National Building Museum, in Washington, D.C. , shown left.
I'll be attending with a number of reltatives to honor the memory of my father, Ray Garrett, Jr., who was Chairman of the SEC from August 6, 1973 to October 28, 1975. He was the 19th Chairman.

Christmas as Tarot Cardds

My blue scarf ...

What did you get for Christmas? I don't mean the price tag or the lavishity degree. Let's read our Christmas presents like a Tarot spread.

For example, one guy whose marriage is in trouble received a pair of hiking boots from his wife. Does she .... want him to "take a hike"?

My Xmas list, the part I choose to share, reveals a message when you realize I live in perpetually sunny 80 degree Southern California.

I got: a GPS system, black velvet gloves and a blue cashmere scarf. Seems people think I'll be traveling to cold climates this year?

What do your gifts reveal? Please feel free to comment.
